Did you know that Dharmendra was cast in a version of Devdas with Sharmila Tagore. Bollywood star played the doomed alcoholic lover, while his co-star Sharmila Tagore played the role of Paro. Moreover, Dharmendra’s real life spouse, Hema Malini, was casted as Chandramukhi. This movie was under making before Leela Bhansali produced his Devdas.

hema-dharamYes! You heard it right, before Sanjay Leela Bhasali actually made his blockbuster hit “Devdas” with Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachhan and Madhuri Dixit, the legendary director, Gulzar, tried to make his own version of the same. His movie began production in 1976 with the leading starcast Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore and Hema Malini. Team shot for 10 days and the movie was shut down by the producer and with this Dharmendra’s dream also remained unfulfilled.

Even before Gulzar started working on his version of Devdas, there were already two movies available on the same subject, one starring Dilip Kumar. However, we would have been more happy to watch Dharmendra playing Devdas on screen.

Yamla Pagla Deewana

Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, is the upcoming project of our legendary actor "Dharmendra". He is playing the role of "Yamla" a 'playboy' or we should say a 'playuncle' in this movie. We would love to watch him depicting his impeccable acting skills with his two sons, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. The movie is expected to release on 15th August, which clashes with Akshay Kumar's "Goal".
