The recently held Oscars nomination oozed around the global filmy goers and we are all in awe to see the most deserving movies getting nominated under some starry categories. On January 23, 2024, the most awaited nominations were announced spreading waves around the cinema and television realm, basking most of the categories by Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig's Barbie loosing some of the most significant spots, the list was truly magical yet unbelievable. Speaking in a nutshell, Barbieheimer, the constructive name of the year that has ruled the hearts of the millions in 2023 didn't remain the only two overwhelming movies now, as the Oscars recognised some of the other worthy films from verying genres and art too.

The Major Oscar Nominated Movies

Oppenheimer has secured the highest number of categories with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things with 11 nominations and Flowers of the Killer Moon with 10 nods respectively. Although the fourth position was owned by Barbie, with 8 nominations, the film experts predicts it to be a huge snub with such an astonishing critical and commercial success. However the movie has been listed among the Best Picture award, thus it will compete tough with it's other cinematic contenders. Meanwhile setting aside all the debates, people are eagerly aniticpated to see the biggest winners of the Oscars this year, and whether Barbie including other unexpected movies will be able to beat the Christopher Nolan directoirial. Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer turned out to be the most record breaking movie of the year as it has able to access through some of the biggest titles ever since the year started off. Directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer is a 2023 biopic thriller dramma that revolves around J Robert Oppenheimer and his transcending innovation of Nuclear weapon during World War II. Led by Cillian Murphy, the movie has won immense acclaimation both critically and commercially. One can easily enjoy Oppenheimer on Prime Video and Apple Tv.

Killers of the Flower Moon

Martin Scorsese's directorial, Killers of the Flower Moon brings in life the old lost murders of the Osage murders and relations in the Osage Nation after oil was discovered on tribal land. Leading star Leonardo DeCaprio did a fantastic job in portryaing the significant character of Ernest Burkhart and thus won million hearts. With a huge critical recognition, the epic western crime drama was able to win 10 nominations for the upcoming Oscars. It is available on Apple TV.

Past Lives

American romantic drama film written and directed by Celine Song in her feature directorial debut, did an exceptional job in creating a modern Hollywood masterpiece. The movie takes you on a journey of two childhood friends who rekindles their lost bond after 24 years. As said, Past Lives is somehow semi-inspired from the director's own life. Anatomy of a Fall

It is a 2023 French legal drama thriller, directed by Justine Triet. The story revolves around the struggle of a woman on trial who tries to prove her innocence after her husband's mysterious death. Led by  Sandra Hüller, the prolific actress has secured her name under the Best Actress category including Justine Triet getting nominated under the Best Director list. Barbie

Greta Gerwig is known for bringing unconventional stories to life. Barbie led by Margot Robbie did wonders both in the theatres and among the critics. The modern day take on the childhood's iconic doll impressed the global audience and had been able to earn $1 billion worldwide. Barbie scored 8 nominations but sadly left behind some major categoiries like Best Director and the Best Actress award. Meanwhile, it is available for streaming on Max.
