International Yoga Day origin and history

On September 27, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi originally proposed the idea of an International Day of Yoga during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed June 21 as International Yoga Day or World Yoga Day on December 11, 2014. Since 2015, the 21st of June has been designated as International Yoga Day.
