Jim Carrey's video of him 'forcefully kissing' Alicia Silverstone resurfaces

After commenting on the Will Smith-Chris Rock incident at Oscars 2022, a video of Jim Carrey kissing Alicia Silverstone at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards has resurfaced for which he was heavily criticized on social media.

Many raised accusations at the actor after he weighed in on the Will Smith and Chris Rock incident at the 2022 Oscars, calling it "sickening."

This caused netizens to bring up a video of him attempting to aggressively kiss Alicia Silverstone on the lips 25 years ago at an awards ceremony. The incident is from the 1997 MTV Movie Awards when a 35-year-old Carrey appeared to impose a kiss on the lips of a 19-year-old Silverstone while receiving the award for best comedy performance for Cable Guy.

At the same Award ceremony, after the incident, Jim tried to sarcastically kiss Will after he was announced as the winner of the MTV Movie & TV Award for Best Kiss.

Jim's video resurfaced on the internet after he commented on the Will Smith and Chris Rock dispute, at the Oscars 2022.

Talking about the Will Smith and Chris Rock incident at Oscars 2022, Jim said, “I was sickened, I was sickened by the standing ovation.”

"I felt like Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it just really felt like this is a really clear indication that we’re not the cool club anymore," Carrey said, adding, “He didn’t want the hassle. I’d have announced this morning that I was suing Will for 200 million dollars because that video is going to be there forever, it’s going to be ubiquitous. That insult is going to last a very long time."

"It didn’t escalate, it came out of nowhere because Will has something going on inside him that’s frustrated. I wish him the best, I really do. I don’t have anything against Will Smith, he’s done great things. But that was not a good moment," he added.

Meanwhile, Will Smith has issued a public apology to Chris Rock for his behavior at the Oscars 2022.
