Know everything about the first Chief of Defense Staff Bippin Rawat who died in the Chopper crash at Tamil Nadu

Born in the year 1958, The Chief of Defense Staff Bipin Rawat dies in a chopper crash in Tamil Nadu. The General was traveling with his wife and other 11 people who were found dead in the accident.

Bipin Rawat was commissioned to the fifth Battalion and eleventh Gorkha Rifles on the Indian Army as he was an alumnus of National Defence Academy. He was commissioned in December 1978 while he became the first Chief of Army Staff appointed in December 2016.

Everyone is mourning the death of the inspiration General but very few know him well. Let’s know the general a little better with some facts related to him.

From the Defence Services Staff College, Bipin Rawat did his graduation along with Command and general staff course at Fort Leavenworth, USA. General was an alumnus of St. Edward school of Shimla and the National Defence Academy.

At the  University of Madras, he has presented an M Phil award in Defence Studies.

Diplomas in Management and Computer Studies with Doctorate of Philosophy were another addition of the General to his academics.

At the military operation, General Bipin Rawat all through his service was a brigade commander, Southern Command, General Staff officer Grade 2. Other than these he held a few more positions in his years of service.

For his Gallantry and determined service of over 38 years with AVSM, SM, VSM, UYSM, VSM, and COAS he was awarded.

Not only had that he becomes a part of the United Nations Peace Keeping Force. He was a two-time awardee of the Force Commander’s Commendation through the period of his service at the United Nations.

IMA, Dehradun also awarded the General Rawat The Sword of Honor.

In the lifetime of his career, 2015 cross-border operation in Myanmar was the biggest highlight in which the Indian Army was successful in reverting to the NSCN-K Militants.

In the 2016 surgical strike which is the most recent one and also the most successful one, also included Rawat Rawat was also a part of planning.

The first Chief of Defense staff authored many articles on National Security and Leadership and in his last time as well he was about to reach Defense Services Staff College to deliver a lecture.
