KV Vijayendra Prasad, RRR writer confirms Akshay Kumar's Rowdy Rathore 2 in the works?

For cinema buffs, the year 2021 appears to be concluding on a high note. Another sequel to a superhit Bollywood film is in the works, following the announcement of Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2.

It's Rowdy Rathore this time, a 2012 mega-hit starring Akshay Kumar. The official remake of the 2006 Telugu blockbuster 'Vikramarkudu' was directed by Prabhudheva in which Sonakshi Sinha played the lead in the film.

KV Vijayendra Prasad, who wrote the sequel of the original Telugu film confirmed that he is working on the script for the film Rowdy Rathore 2, which would begin filming at the end of next year, 2022.

Earlier, Shabinaa Khan, the co-producer of Akshay Kumar's hit action-comedy Rowdy Rathore (2012), said in 2019 that a sequel to the film was in the works. While the news was welcomed by the superstar's followers, little was heard about the same later.

In a recent conversation, the Baahubali: The Beginning and RRR writer revealed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the 2012 Hindi film producer, asked him about a sequel. While he stated that scripting is now ongoing, another insider close to the project confirmed that Sonakshi will also star in the sequel.

Meanwhile, KV Vijayendra Prasad is excited for his son SS Rajamouli's RRR to be released. The film will be released on January 7th, starring Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Ram Charan, and Jr NTR in key roles.

The insider stated that the picture is scheduled to enter theatres next year.  The source also added, “Sonakshi Sinha will reprise her role of Paro. While the principal characters of Shiva and Paro are expected to remain in the sequel, the story will not pick up where Rowdy Rathore ended. This will be a completely new narrative. The script will be ready in the next few months, and the movie is expected to go on floors at the end of 2022.”
