After Will Smith's slap incident with Chris Rock at Oscars 2022 garnered attention, comedian Dave Chappelle has been recently attacked on stage during his performance at an event titled 'Netflix Is A Joke' in Los Angeles.
In a video clip from the event, a man can be seen charging onto the stage and attacking Dave Chappelle before the recording cuts out.
US Reporter Sharon Carpenter took to her social media account and shared the video of the incident.
She said that “He was finishing up his performance when a man ran on-stage and lunged at him knocking him to the floor. Security and his entourage then cornered the man as Dave joked about him getting ‘stomped' backstage.”
In several videos that are making rounds on social media, Dave Chappelle appeared to joke after the incident saying “It was a trans man”, indirectly talking about the controversy he was embroiled in October, last year when he was accused of being transphobic in his Netflix special ‘The Closer'.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the comedian Chris Rock came onto the stage after the incident and asked “Was that Will Smith?”, taking a dig at the actor who created headlines for the slapping incident with Rock on stage at the Oscars 2022.
The attacker's identification has not been released by the police as of now. The event was being held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
