A R Rahman, the legendary musician, has been appointed the ambassador of the British Council's 'India-UK Together Season of Culture,' which encourages collaboration among emerging artists.

The 'Season of Culture,' which celebrates India's 75th anniversary of independence, was officially launched on Tuesday by Britain's Deputy High Commissioner to India Jan Thomson and British Council Director (India) Barbara Wickham.

AR Rahman has been selected as its ambassador for the same reason. Speaking about it, the renowned musician expressed his excitement at being a part of an innovative cultural initiative that encourages artistic excellence and appreciation while bringing diverse audiences together.

As a musician, Rahman said it's a delight to be a part of an innovative cultural programme that encourages artistic achievement and appreciation, as well as bringing together diverse audiences. "Today, creative expression and exchange can nurture young talent and create a global stage for fair and equitable access to arts," he added.

AR Rahman has been a significant adviser to the Season of Culture, according to British Council Director (India) Barbara Wickham, and his work and professional path fully exemplify what the Season of Culture stands for: teamwork and artistic output that attracts the world's imagination.
