RAJKUMAR RAO BAGS BEST ACTOR AWARD AT ASIA PACIFIC SCREEN AWARDS FOR ‘NEWTON’
Asia Pacific Screen Awards were held in Brisbane on Thursday. India’s Oscar entry Bollywood movie “Newton” secured two wins at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA). Rajkumar Rao won the best Actor award and Amit V. Masurkar and Mayank Tewari bagged the best Screenplay awards for “Newton”.

RajKumar Rao tweeted his picture with his award for his fans and wrote, “Won the best actor award at the most prestigious APSA 2017. Thank you Maa. Thank you team ‘Newton’. Don’t stop chasing your dreams because they really do come true.” Newton is India’s first official entry for foreign language film category at the Academy Awards 2018. The movie is produced by Drishyam Films and is directed by Amit V Masurkar.

Newton revolves around the rookie but idealistic election officer as he struggles to hold elections in a Chhattisgarh Village despite the threat of Naxalite violence. Rajkumar Rao was really happy on achieving this award. He said, “It is because of her blessings, I believe that Newton is getting all these appreciations. So, thank you mom. I love you.” Reportedly, Rajkumar Rao mother passed away while he was shooting for the film. He specially thanked his mother on the stage while receiving the award to give tribute to his mother.
