SOTY: Karan Johar pens a heartfelt note for Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra as their debut film clocks 10 years

Student of The Year clocks 10 years: Karan Johar's directorial 'Student of The Year' has completed 10 years of its release which marked the debut of stellar actors Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan.

All three actors have established themselves in the industry since their debut. Varun has experienced a number of successes and setbacks while Alia Bhatt has grown into one of the nation's top female stars. With 'Shershaah' being a massive success, Sidharth also garnered much love from the audience.

Celebrating the 10 years of 'SOTY', film's director Karan Johar has shared a lovely note for the stars.

He shared a video from the days of the filming and stated, “SOTY started of as me making a “holiday film”…. A film that certainly wasn’t intended to move any cinematic mountains but a film that was young , fun and entertaining … what I didn’t realise then that this film would give me so much more than memories or a commercial success … would give so much more than a film in my directorial archives…

Karan Johar further said, that 'Student of the Year' provided Karan with more than just a 'commercial success'. Alia, Varun, and Sidharth, provided him three of his most treasured relationships.

The director also stated that he speaks to his three prodigies every day and feels like a parent toward them.

The movie 'Student Of The Year' was released on October 19, 2012. In supporting parts, the movie also featured Rishi Kapoor, Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Gautami Kapoor, Sana Saeed, Sahil Anand, and Farida Jalal.

At the box office, 'Student of the Year was a smashing hit. The movie made Rs 30 crore throughout its first weekend and concluded its theatrical run in 2012 with Rs 70 crore.
