Tokyo Olympics 2020: Kamalpreet Kaur qualifies for Discus Finals to be held on August 2!

Kamalpreet Kaur of Punjab, an Indian discus thrower, qualified for the finals after coming second in the women's discus throw qualification event on Saturday at Olympic Stadium.

After USA's Valarie Allman, who threw 66.42m in her first attempt, Kamalpreet Kaur became only the second thrower to accomplish the automatic qualification of 64.00m.

After hurling the discus to 64.00 meters on her third try, she qualified directly in the 15-player Group B field.

It's also worth remembering that Kamalpreet has qualified for the World Athletics Championships in 2022. The Championship qualification mark was 63.5m.

Seema Punia, on the other hand, did not qualify for the discus throw finals. Punia, who was in Group A, was the first to get started in a group where no one had been assigned an automatic mark. The qualifying result of 64.00 (Q) or at least 12 best performers (q) qualified for the final, according to the rules.
