Actor Turned Politician Suresh Gopi Denies Reports of Resignation Amidst Ministerial Role

Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, recently inducted as a Union Minister of State (MoS) in the Narendra Modi-led government, has refuted media speculation suggesting his intention to step down from his new governmental role. The 65-year-old, who marked a historic victory as the first-ever Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha MP from Kerala, clarified his stance following his swearing-in ceremony on Sunday alongside 70 other ministers.

President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Gopi and his fellow ministers, following Prime Minister Modi's induction for a third consecutive term. Addressing rumors circulated by certain media outlets, Gopi affirmed his commitment to Kerala's development and prosperity. In a statement, he refuted the reports, asserting his dedication to serving under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.

Gopi emphasized, "A few media platforms are spreading the incorrect news that I am going to resign from the Council of Ministers of the Modi Government. This is grossly incorrect. Under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji, we are committed to the development and prosperity of Kerala." He further expressed pride in his ministerial appointment, recognizing it as an honour to serve in the Modi government.

The veteran Malayalam film actor made headlines with his historic electoral triumph, securing victory in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency by a substantial margin of 74,686 votes. His electoral success not only marked a significant milestone for the BJP in Kerala but also underscored the evolving political landscape in the state.
