Mahesh Babu's 'Guntur Karam' Faces Uphill Battle Against Rivals at the Box Office

In the festive backdrop of Makar Sankranti, the cinephile community witnessed the much-anticipated release of "Guntur Karam," a cinematic venture directed by the acclaimed Trivikram Srinivas and featuring the charismatic superstar Mahesh Babu. The film, which initially soared to unprecedented heights on its opening day, has encountered a rollercoaster journey at the box office, experiencing both triumphs and tribulations.

The Glorious Debut:

"Guntur Karam" made an unforgettable debut in theaters, shattering initial records in the illustrious career of Mahesh Babu. The cinematic masterpiece garnered immense attention and praise for its stellar performances, compelling narrative, and Trivikram Srinivas's directorial finesse. The initial reception from audiences and critics alike indicated that "Guntur Karam" was destined for greatness.

The Ebbing Earnings:

Despite the euphoria surrounding its opening, the film faced formidable competition, notably from Teja Sajja's "Hanu Man." This fierce rivalry, coupled with the simultaneous releases of other prominent films like Dhanush's "Captain Miller" and the star-studded "Merry Christmas," posed a significant challenge for "Guntur Karam." While the movie initially outshone its competitors, the tides of fortune began to turn in the second week.

A Box Office Battle:

In its first week, "Guntur Karam" emerged triumphant, accumulating a staggering 107.9 crores. However, the emergence of "Hanu Man" altered the dynamics at the box office, leading to a perceptible decline in the earnings of "Guntur Karam." The second week witnessed a formidable fight for supremacy, with "Hanu Man" gradually gaining ground. Notably, the rival film accumulated 3.15 crores on the second Friday, 3.25 crores on the second Saturday, 3.55 crores on the second Sunday, and 85 lakhs on the second Monday, further intensifying the box office competition.

The Struggle for Sustained Momentum:

On its 12th day since release, "Guntur Karam" reported a modest collection of 75 lakhs, signaling a challenging phase in sustaining its momentum at the box office. Despite an impressive budget of 200 crores, the film has struggled to recover only half of its investment, grappling with the task of covering its entire production cost. The looming release of "Fighter," featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone on January 25, is poised to compound the difficulties for "Guntur Karam."
