Bollywood actor Govinda to Be Questioned in Rs 1,000 Crore Online Ponzi Scam Investigation

In recent news, the Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) announced that they plan to question the famous actor Govinda in connection with a massive online scam investigation involving a company called Solar Techno Alliance (STA-Token). This company is accused of running a Ponzi scheme worth Rs 1,000 crore across India, fooling people into thinking they were investing in cryptocurrency.

Reports reveal that Solar Techno Alliance managed to collect deposits from over 2 lakh individuals in India without proper authorization from the Reserve Bank of India. This company, which operates online in various countries, allegedly made a staggering Rs 1,000 crore through their illegal activities.

The Inspector General of EOW, JN Pankaj, stated, "We will soon send a team to Mumbai to question filmstar Govinda, who had attended STA's grand function in Goa in July and promoted the company in some videos." It's important to note that Govinda is not a suspect or an accused party at this time. His role will only be determined after a thorough investigation. Pankaj added, "If we find that his role was limited to endorsing the product (STAToken brand) as per their business agreement, then we will make him a witness in our case."

This fraudulent company managed to collect Rs 30 crore from 10,000 people in Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, and Bhubaneswar.

Furthermore, the scam extended beyond Odisha, as they attracted investments from people in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand, and other states. It is also reported that the EOW had previously arrested Gurtej Singh Sidhu and Nirod Das, who were the heads of the company in India and Odisha, respectively, on August 7.

Additionally, an investment adviser named Ratnakar Palai from Bhubaneswar was arrested on August 16 due to his connection with Gurtej Singh Sidhu. Authorities have issued lookout circulars for the company's chief, David Gez, who is a Hungarian national.
