The late producer Gurdev Singh Randhawa's sons, Isjeet and Sanjot Randhawa, filed the petition. Following the hearing of their case, the Civil Judge, Senior Division, Harsimranjit Singh's court made the directives.
On October 12, 2012, it was claimed that Chamkila's widow had granted Randhawas' father the authority to make a biography of her husband. She further got Rs. 5 lakh. The production of the biopic had no set deadline.
More specifically, it was said that their father passed away on November 3, 2022. As soon as Gurmail Kaur was approached by the petitioner and arrangements for the biography began to be made, she began to use various justifications to put the process on hold.
They eventually discovered that the accused were already working on a film on Chamkila and Bibi Amarjot Kaur while plotting together. Producer Imtiaz Ali has begun work on that for Reliance Entertainment. Currently, the defendants have been ordered to appear in court on March 28, 2023.
