Kangana Ranaut's 'Tejas' Falters Amidst Shows Cancellation Talks
Kangana Ranaut, a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, has been known for her versatility as an actress and her willingness to take on challenging roles. Her latest cinematic venture, "Tejas," hit the silver screen on October 27th. However, despite the buzz surrounding its release, the film has garnered a lukewarm response from both critics and audiences, leading to concerns among exhibitors. In this article, we delve into the reasons behind "Tejas" struggling at the box office and the challenges it faces in its quest to recover production costs.
A Challenging Box Office Journey

"Tejas" finds itself in a precarious position as it endeavors to regain its production costs. With a projected lifetime collection of a meager 10 crore rupees, the film has faced an uphill battle at the box office. The lackluster audience turnout has prompted a significant decision to cancel a considerable portion of its scheduled screenings.
Exhibitors from various regions have engaged in discussions about discontinuing the nationwide showings of "Tejas." Their primary rationale for this action is the scarcity of viewers, with approximately 50% of the film's scheduled showings being canceled due to a lack of audience interest.
Anemic Audience Turnout

The audience turnout for "Tejas" has been disappointingly low, with many screenings attracting fewer than 100 viewers. Manoj Desai, the proprietor of Mumbai's Gaiety Galaxy, provided insight into the challenges faced in showcasing Kangana's "Tejas." Desai pointed out that even on Sundays, a day when cinemas typically see higher attendance, they struggled to attract around 100 viewers. The situation was even more dismal on other days, with less than 100 attendees for most showings. This was particularly evident in smaller auditoriums where the film had difficulty drawing audiences.
In addition, another exhibitor, speaking to an online platform, shared further insights. He mentioned that on Sundays, each screening typically attracted a mere 10-12 viewers, which prompted the decision to eliminate 50% of the scheduled showings on Mondays. Interestingly, he noted that Vikrant Massey's film was enjoying a successful run at the box office, highlighting the stark contrast between the two films' reception.

"Tejas" is not the only film in Kangana Ranaut's recent filmography that has faced difficulties at the box office. This movie marks Kangana's fifth consecutive film that has struggled to find success, following disappointments with "Dhaakad," "Thalaivi," "Panga," and "Judgementall Hai Kya." Most recently, Kangana's "Chandramukhi 2" was released, but it managed only a modest box office collection of 40 crores, further indicating a challenging phase in her career.
