The topic of censorship on OTT platforms has been a highly debated issue in India. Recently, Salman Khan, the famous Bollywood actor, gave an interview in which he expressed his concerns regarding the lack of censorship on these platforms.

Salman Khan, who is known for his larger-than-life persona on the big screen, gave his opinion on the matter, stating that there should be some kind of regulation in place for OTT content. He pointed out that while movies are subjected to certification based on the level of violence or intimacy, there is no such system in place for OTT platforms.
He compared the situation to a movie, stating that if they were to add one or two extra punches during an action sequence, the film would receive a higher certification. However, on an OTT platform, there is no such control or regulation. Salman also raised concerns about the accessibility of such content to minors, asking how a parent would feel if their child watched explicit content on an OTT platform.
i have been here since 1989 & i have never done this kind of stuff (vulgarity, nudity, swearing casually) so i think there should be censors on ott. it doesn't look good when 15 y/o kids watch this kind of stuff. television is still better than ott - #SalmanKhan pic.twitter.com/xip8CN61Ra— simp (@jhonkahawaka) April 6, 2023
This is not the first time that Salman Khan has expressed his concerns about the need for censorship on OTT platforms. He has previously called for a ban on obscenity and intimate scenes, as well as suggested that children between the ages of 15-16 should not be allowed to watch such content.
The debate around censorship on OTT platforms has been ongoing for some time now, with many people arguing that the lack of censorship allows for greater creative freedom and exploration of controversial topics. On the other hand, some believe that censorship is necessary to protect vulnerable groups, such as children, from exposure to explicit content.
The issue has become particularly relevant in recent years, as more and more people have turned to OTT platforms for entertainment, especially during the pandemic. This has raised concerns about the impact of such content on society, and the need for some kind of regulation or censorship.
Salman Khan's statement has once again brought this issue to the forefront, sparking a fresh debate around the need for censorship on OTT platforms. While some may disagree with his views, it is clear that this is an issue that requires further discussion and consideration, in order to ensure that the content available on these platforms is both creative and responsible.
