Mob lynching is not a very new term in few states of India, specially the north-eastern part of the country. A recent incident from Manipur has swept away the entire nation with storm as a video went viral where two Manipuri Tribal women's were dragged naked and raped by more than 15 man of Churanchandpur.

The inhuman Manipur incident

Just after hours of the horrific video went viral on Thursday, people came afront to raise their voice in seeking justice for the two innocent women's who were mob lynched as a false news spreaded among the Kuki tribe. The women's were paraded naked - one in her 40's and another in her 20's. They were walked down naked, taken to a paddy field of the Kangpokpi district and raped them, resulted in the death of a one. To which 140 crore Indian's are asking 'why are women always treated as battlegrounds for men'? Among the many, celebrities came to join hands with the masses too. 

Actors who came in support

Actors like Akshay Kumar tweeted his heartbroken emotion and wrote, "Shaken, disgusted to see the video of violence against women in Manipur. I hope the culprits get such a harsh punishment that no one ever thinks of doing a horrifying thing like this again." Even the Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri took off his anger and added his grief for the barbarian incident. He quoted, "Every time our innocent mothers and sisters become the ultimate victims of inhuman, barbarian acts. As a Bharatiya(Indian), As a man, as a human being I am shattered each time. I am ashamed. I am so guilty for my helplessness." The tragic mourn can felt from his emotional statement. He further added by saying "O Manipur. I tried....I tried but I failed. This is not the freedom I want. This is not the kind of democracy I want. It’s worth nothing if it makes us bay for each other’s blood. "While stating such emotion filled feeling, he backlashed the failure of the entire government, society and the humankind as a whole.

The misfortune

The incident happened after a misleading picture of a Delhi woman went circulated on social media, falsely claiming her to be woman from the Meiti tribe. Reportedly, the incident is not new but older than a month which occurred on May 4, 2023, but it was heard by the nation only after the gruesome video went viral on July 19, 2023. One of the two women were survived, who during an interview shared her tragedy and told how the false news has brought their misfortune. 

The Government!

Now even the government came to rescue and share the political opinions on the heinous scene. PM Modi stood outside the parliament and shared his grief and nodded, "I am pained, won't spare the guilty." He assured the Indians with a hope of seeking justice but till when women of innocence of the the North East region has to surrender their lives under the country's lending ignorance?
