Gauahar Khan's Husband Zaid Darbar Faces Backlash for Insensitive Instagram Post

Zaid Darbar, husband of actress Gauahar Khan, has found himself in hot water with netizens. Recently, Zaid shared a photo on his Instagram stories where he was seen posing on a footpath in Mumbai. In the background, a homeless man was sleeping.

In the caption of the photo, Zaid tagged his wife Gauahar and wrote, "No AC, no fan, no darkness, but still sleeping so peacefully because no wife? But I am the most peaceful with you jaanu (darling) I love you jaanu…" This post did not sit well with many people online.

Critics quickly took to social media to express their disappointment and anger. One user on Reddit questioned, "Is he really that stupid to put up a story like this?" Another user criticized Gauahar, referencing her past behavior, "Gauahar is always busy schooling others, and her husband is like this. Even yesterday (May 20), she had a problem at the polling booth. What gave him the right to click a random man's picture, especially while he is sleeping? Imagine if someone had done the same to him or Gauahar without consent?"

Other comments also condemned the post, calling it a "tasteless joke" and "beyond disgusting and insensitive." Critics pointed out that the joke was sexist, made fun of someone who is poor, and reflected poorly on Zaid's character.

Gauahar Khan herself was recently trolled for a separate issue. On Monday, she suggested using the Aadhaar card for voting in a video shared on her social media. "Why do we have Aadhaar cards if we are not considered citizens enough to vote? Your Aadhaar card is your identity that you are an Indian citizen and you should be able to vote with that," she argued.

Meanwhile, Zaid Darbar has not yet responded to the backlash he is receiving.
