Priyanka Chopra gets candid about past experience: In a recent interview with The Zoe Report, Priyanka Chopra bravely shared yet another disturbing incident from her time in Bollywood, shedding light on the less glamorous aspects of the industry.
The renowned actress revealed that she had to walk away from a Hindi movie after the director insisted on seeing her in revealing attire during a particular scene. The experience left her feeling dehumanized, prompting her to refund the production company.
Priyanka Chopra candidly discussed her challenging journey in Bollywood, highlighting the difficulties she encountered along the way. Recounting the incident, she disclosed that the director, in the presence of her stylist, expressed his demand to see her in undergarments for a seductive scene where she played an undercover character. Uncomfortable and disheartened by the request, Priyanka decided to leave the project after spending two days on set, realizing that she could not continue working with a director who treated her in such a manner.
Reflecting on the distressing incident, Priyanka revealed, "I'm playing this undercover character, and naturally, as part of the role, I'm seducing the guy. The director insisted that I remove one piece of clothing at a time while seducing the person. But I wanted to portray the scene differently. That's when the director said, 'No, I need to see her in her pants.' He believed that it was the only way the audience would be interested in watching the movie."
It made her feel objectified, as if her craft and talents were insignificant, reducing her to nothing more than a tool. Although Priyanka did not disclose the name of the director or the movie, she mentioned that the incident occurred around 2002 or 2003, during her early years in the industry.
During a podcast interview with Dax Shepard in March, Priyanka Chopra was asked about her departure from Bollywood. In her open and honest response, she revealed the challenging circumstances she faced in the industry. She expressed feeling cornered, struggling to navigate the politics and game-playing prevalent in Bollywood. The lack of casting opportunities and conflicts with others eventually led her to decide to take a break and step away from the industry.
