Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at Oscars 2022; Bollywood reacts on 'unexpected' incident
The internet has been swamped with all kinds of comments from all over the world when actor Will Smith smacked comedian Chris Rock in the face during the 94th Academy Awards.

The image of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards has gone viral. While the video of the incident has gone viral, Twitter has quickly devolved into a meme-fest. Smith smacked Rock onstage after becoming enraged by the latter's joke intended at his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, for the uninitiated. Following the incident, Bollywood celebrities responded to the viral incident on their own social media accounts.
Neetu Kapoor, a veteran actress, took a jab at it, saying that women are the ones who are accused of being overly sensitive. She captioned the picture of Will slapping as, “And they say women can never control their emotions…”
Varun Dhawan shared the video as captioned, "Wow Didn't expect that @ChrisRock also has a Chin"
Gauahar Khan wrote on Twitter, "Oscar Jeet Gaye, par izzat haar gaye (Won an Oscar but lost respect)! Sad about #willsmith attacking a fellow artist , !!! Comedians at risk , #NewAge #Notolerance . Dialogue is everything, on screen and off. #Oscars."
Sophie Choudry shared her reaction on Twitter, writing, "Violence is never the way but cracking jokes about someone's medical condition should not be acceptable either. This was supposed to be a career high for one of my favourite artists for a superb performance. Instead he'll be remembered for this crazy incident."

Chris Rock was on stage during the third hour of the show, presenting the award for Best Documentary. He made a joke about Pinkett-Smith being in the sequel to GI Jane. It appeared to be a remark about her shaven head.
Later, he won the Best Actor award at Oscars 2022. In his address, he said, "I want to be an ambassador of that kind of love and care and concern. I want to apologise to the Academy and all my fellow nominees."
