'After Kabir Singh released I went like a beggar to everybody' quotes Shahid Kapoor on Jersey trailer launch

Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor, and Mrunal Thakur, has been making headlines in the last 24 hours. The film is set to be released next month, and the trailer was released on Tuesday. Many celebrities witnessed the Kabir Singh actor nail his performance in the Jersey trailer.

After films like Shaandaar and Mausam, it will be interesting to see the father-son duo of Pankaj and Shahid collaborate on screen again. Shahid mentioned his feeling about working after Kabir Singh.

On the trailer launch, Shahid Kapoor made big revelations about working after Kabir Singh, his last big movie. "I tried very hard not to do Jersey because after Kabir Singh released I went like a beggar to everybody. You know I was like meri picture itni kabhi chali nahi hai aisi picture ab kaise banau mujhe nahi pata” said Shahid Kapoor

He further stated, “So I went to literally everybody in the fraternity who had these Rs 200-300 crore films and I have been working for 18 years so after 15-16 years of work, finally a film of mine did such big business. So I felt like I have never been a part of this Rs 200-300 crore club.”

About the forthcoming movie Jersey, it is a hindi remake of the superhit Telugu movie ‘Jersey’. The plot revolves around a cricketer who has lost all hope to return on the ground in his 30s. However, decides to not be laid down in his son’s eyes.

The film, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri (who also directed the original), was set to be released on August 28. However, it was rescheduled due to the pandemic. The film will finally hit theatres on December 31. Shahid Kapoor's father, Pankaj Kapur, will serve as his mentor in the film, and actor Mrunal Thakur will play his wife.
