Alankrita Sahai, a model-turned-actress, was robbed at knifepoint of Rs 6.50 lakh after being held hostage at her rented apartment in Chandigarh on Tuesday afternoon. Around 12.30 p.m., three unknown masked individuals forced their way into her home on the second floor of a three-story building.

According to sources, she believes one of the robbers visited her home during the delivery of furniture. She also informed the police that robbers took her ATM card and returned with Rs 50,000. The suspects allegedly assaulted the victim as well. When Sahai yelled for help, the robbers fled by jumping from the balcony meanwhile the actress locked herelf in the bathroom out of fear. The victim recognized one of the suspects. According to police, the complainant moved to the city about a month ago. She and her parents had rented the second floor of the house, and the victim's parents had been out of town for the previous ten days. The police were notified of the incident, and an investigation was launched. The footage from CCTV cameras installed in the area was examined. According to the police, the victim had identified one of the suspects. “One of the suspects involved in the crime had visited the victim's house to deliver furniture that she had recently purchased,” said a police officer.
