Aesha Mukerji has announced her divorce from cricketer Shikhar Dhawan after nearly 9 years of marriage!

Shikhar Dhawan, India's opener got separated from his wife Aesha Mukherji after 9 years of their marriage.  Dhawan and Ayesha, were popularly regarded as one of the power couples in cricket, appeared to be a match made in heaven from the start.

However, after years of perfectly complementing each other, Dhawan and Aesha decided to swallow the bitter pill of divorce.

Aesha took to her social media handle to share a lengthy post and revealed that she is now separated from Shikhar.

“I THOUGHT DIVORCE WAS A DIRTY WORD UNTIL I BECAME A 2 TIME DIVORCEE. Divorce means choosing myself and not settling and sacrificing my own life for the sake of a marriage.

Divorce means even though you do your best and try your best things sometimes do not work out and that's ok. Divorce means I have had amazing relationships that have taught me great lessons to carry forward in new relationships” wrote Aesha.

Dhawan and Aesha married in 2012. In 2014, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Zoravar.

Dhawan is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the resumption of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which was delayed in May due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
