Diljit Dosanjh reacts after Satluj was removed from ZEE5 just two days after release, saying, “Once it’s online, it can’t be erased,” and thanks fans for their support.
Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh's film Satluj, originally titled Punjab 95, was removed from the streaming platform just two days after its release on ZEE5. The movie became available on July 3 without any promotions after spending years waiting for censor approval. However, it was unexpectedly taken down from the platform soon after its release, leaving fans surprised.
Diljit Thanks Fans for Their SupportAfter the film was removed, Diljit Dosanjh went live on Instagram to thank fans for watching and supporting Satluj. He said he had expected the film to be taken down by Monday, but it happened even earlier. According to him, this was the reason the makers chose not to promote the movie before its release.
Diljit said he was happy because the film had already reached many viewers. He encouraged people who had watched and downloaded the movie to share it with others so that more people could learn about its story.
"Once It's Online, It Can't Be Erased"During the live session, Diljit repeated that once something is released online, it cannot truly disappear. He explained that many people had already watched the film and saved copies. He also shared that he had seen videos of people in Rajasthan watching the movie, which made him feel proud.
The actor added that he is no longer worried about whether the film returns to the streaming platform because it has already reached a wide audience. He also said he would continue to stand with Punjab throughout his life.
Story Based on a Difficult PeriodSatluj is based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra and highlights one of Punjab's darkest periods during the 1990s. The film focuses on the alleged disappearances of civilians and claims that many victims were cremated without informing their families.
The movie was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification in 2022 but did not receive certification. The film was also scheduled to be screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, but the screening was later cancelled.
ZEE5 RespondsAfter removing the film, ZEE5 released a statement saying it continues to support Satluj. However, the platform did not explain the exact reason behind its removal. It only said that, "in light of current developments," the film is currently unavailable for streaming. Fans are now waiting to see whether the movie will return to the platform in the future.
