Ankita Lokhande to play female lead in Randeep Hooda-starrer 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar'

Bollywood actress Ankita Lokhande, who nailed her character in 'Manikarnika', is all set to amaze her fans with her next film titled 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' alongside Randeep Hooda.

Ankita Lokhande has been roped in to play the female lead in 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' which is a biopic on the late freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.

Apart from Ankita Lokhande and Randeep Hooda, the film features Amit Sial in the lead role. Expressing her excitement, Ankita said that she loved essaying challenging and pivotal characters that leave an impact on the audience.

'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' is one such inspiring story that needs to be received, she said, adding that she was happy to be associated with it.

The film 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' also marks the debut of Randeep Hooda as a director while he is also playing the titular role. Randeep has replaced Mahesh Manjrekar as the director of the film.

Earlier, director Mahesh Manjrekar was to helm the project but the 'Antim' seems to have opted out of the biopic.

It is pertinent to mention that freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar was born on May 28, 1883, in Maharashtra's Nashik. 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' film is written by Utkarsh Naithani and Randeep Hooda while it is being produced by Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Legend Studios, Producers Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, and Sam Khan.

The film is set to release on May 26, 2023, marking the 140th birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar.
