Amish Tripathi denies reports of Ranveer Singh acquiring rights of 'Immortals of Meluha'
Author Amish Tripathi has dismissed recent rumours claiming that Ranveer Singh has acquired the rights to adapt The Immortals of Meluha into a film trilogy. Amish clarified that the rights to the Shiva Trilogy are still with him and no agreement has been signed with anyone so far. While denying the reports, the bestselling author also praised Ranveer Singh, calling himself a fan of the actor. The clarification has once again sparked curiosity among fans, many of whom have been waiting for years to see the popular mythological saga adapted for the screen.

The fresh wave of speculation began after reports claimed that Ranveer Singh had secured the rights to Amish Tripathi’s Shiva Trilogy under his production banner, Maa Kasam Film. The reports further suggested that the actor was planning a grand-scale trilogy in collaboration with Birla Studios. The news quickly generated excitement online, especially among fans of the books who have long hoped for a cinematic adaptation of the fantasy series.
Over the past decade, multiple filmmakers have attempted to bring the Shiva Trilogy to screens, but none of the projects have materialised. In 2014, filmmaker Karan Johar had reportedly acquired the adaptation rights, but the project was eventually shelved. Later, reports also linked Sanjay Leela Bhansali to the franchise, though that version too failed to move forward.
In 2022, Amish Tripathi officially announced a web series adaptation alongside Shekhar Kapur and filmmaker Suparn Varma. The series was expected to be produced by Roy Price under International Arts Machine. Despite the ambitious announcement, the project never took shape and the rights eventually reverted back to the author.
The Immortals of Meluha is the first book in Amish Tripathi’s widely successful Shiva Trilogy, followed by The Secret of the Nagas and The Oath of the Vayuputras. Set in the ancient land of Meluha, the story reimagines Lord Shiva as a Tibetan tribal leader who transforms into the legendary Neelkanth, destined to become the saviour of the land. Blending mythology, fantasy, politics, and action, the trilogy became a publishing phenomenon in India and developed a loyal fanbase over the years.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh was recently seen in the blockbuster Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The actor was also expected to headline Don 3, but reports suggested that he parted ways with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar following creative differences. Ranveer is now set to star in filmmaker Jai Mehta’s theatrical debut Pralay, which is being described as a large-scale zombie thriller.
