Dil Dhadakne Do clocks 9 years: Here's how Zoya Akhtar directorial became a perfect family drama to binge watch

Released in 2015, Dil Dhadakne Do is one of the most prolific modern cult comedy family dramas to ever hit the cinema screens. That was the year when DDD enlightened the Indian realm with a whole new take and genre in cinema. Speaking in a nutshell, the film has a perfect blend of characters, drama, comedy, and romance making it a wonderful experience for people to experience the Zoya Akhtar directorial. But what was rather more captivating was to witness the film's star cast, one of the biggest from the Bollywood front line including Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, and Anushka Sharma.

Today, on May 5 2024, Dil Dhadakne Do completes 9 years, and on this special occasion, we can't help but talk about the film more in depth. Speaking about the storyline, it revolves around a married couple, Kamal and Neelam who on their 30th anniversary invites their friends and family to bask in the celebration on a cruise. But the storyline brings some whopping dramas ever since the ship starts sailing in the blue waters.

A Starry Cast - Well there is barely any movie, from modern Bollywood perhaps that has such an astonishing leading cast like Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma. All the A-listers in the movie make the storyline scream even a notch higher. The depth brought by the leads in their characters was authentic and relatable for viewers to understand the family dynamics.

The Music - For a Bollywood film to exist, it must have songs in it because that shows the world sees it. Zoya Akhtar implanted some of the most enthralling numbers in DDD that suit perfectly for every occasion. The most grooved songs are 'Gallan Goodiyan,' 'Pehli Baar,' and 'Dil Dhadakne Do.'

The enthralling musicals were added with surreal dance moves that mesmerized people. The energetic songs like 'Gallan Goodiyan' presented a very well vibrant and well-executed dance sequence perfectly seating along with the film narratives while exciting the viewers.

Also not to forget the most famous actor in the film, Pluto, a bull-mastiff pet that has added an extra layer of interesting insights during the film with Anil Kapoor's voiceover. Pluto gave justice to the film as his strong bond with the family reflected the film’s sentimental value while making a strong connection of resemblance with the viewers.
