End of Akshay Kumar Era: 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2024' Disappoints at the Box Office

Every Eid heralds the release of multiple films, setting the box office abuzz with anticipation and excitement. These releases often defy critical reviews, drawing in audiences by the masses. However, this year has witnessed a notable departure from the norm. "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2024," headlined by the powerhouse duo of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, made its much-anticipated debut on Eid. Despite the star-studded cast and the skilled direction of Ali Abbas Zafar, the film seems to have missed its mark with audiences, joining the ranks of lowest-earning Eid releases.

The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring industry stalwarts such as Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, with particular acclaim directed towards Sukumaran's portrayal of the antagonist.

However, despite the high expectations, "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2024" fell short in terms of earnings. Saiknilk's report revealed a meager 15.50 crores on its opening day, a significant deviation from the robust box office numbers typically associated with Eid releases in previous years.

Eid has traditionally been synonymous with Salman Khan's blockbusters, exemplified by the staggering debut day earnings of films like "Bharat," which grossed 42.30 crores in 2019, and "Sultan," which raked in 36.54 crores.

Adding insult to injury, "Race 3" emerged as a formidable competitor, outperforming "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2024" despite facing its fair share of negative reviews. The former amassed 29.17 crores in contrast to the latter's lackluster earnings. Similarly, "Someone's Brother, Someone's Life" also surpassed expectations, earning 15.81 crores, further underscoring the underperformance of "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2024."

Furthermore, the sports drama "Field" faced its own set of challenges upon its release. Despite hitting screens on April 10th in the evening, with paid previews rolling out after 6 pm, the film failed to meet anticipated earnings. "Field" garnered 2.6 crores on its debut day and 4.50 crores on April 11th, bringing the total collection to 7.10 crores. However, initial projections suggested a more robust performance on its opening day, indicating a tough journey ahead for the sports-centric film amidst stiff competition.
