Iconic Movie 'Koi... Mil Gaya' by Rakesh Roshan to Re-Release in Theatres Today; All the Details Inside

Iconic Indian sci-fi movie 'Koi...Mil Gaya' is coming back on the theatres as mark of a celebratory moment for it's 20th anniversary. The sci-fi drama is going to complete 20 years of success on August 10 to which the makers have announced the decision of re-releasing the movie in 30 cities across the country in the selective cinema's. Rakesh Roshan have decided to bring back the old gem today i.e. Friday, August 4, 2023.

The 20th anniversary

While announcing the happy news to the audience, Rakesh Roshan hoped the idea of bringing back such a mesmerizing Bollywood masterpiece will take the fans on a nostalgic ride to the past. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta on the leads, the movie is going to be released in 30 cities as mentioned earlier, as a special screening at the various PVR INOX theatres. "The team at PVR INOX reached out to us to celebrate 20 years of ‘Koi... Mil Gaya’. I was happy to know of their plans and jointly decided to re-release the film. The idea is to relive the nostalgia," Rakesh Roshan quoted in his statement.

The veteran filmmaker continued while saying, "We hope the re-release marks to be a family outing with parents taking their kids to cinema halls and introducing the new generation to Jaadoo, while the parents reminisce memories of watching the film 20 years ago". He also put light on how unserious his plans were about initially for the movie! "We set out to make Koi... Mil Gaya as a children's film that would be enjoyed by the kids and also entertain their families." Which in contrary became one of the year's biggest blockbuster with an amazing storyline and ear intriguing musical numbers like it's title song 'Koi Mil Gaya' sung by Alka Yagnik. "But the audience response was my biggest reward. It was satisfying and strengthened my belief as a filmmaker to keep making films on different genres, storylines and keep experimenting. Knowing that it's 20 years, and Koi... Mil Gaya is still etched in the audience's mind is a very heartwarming feeling," Mr. Roshan added!

Directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan himself, 'Koi... Mil Gaya' was released in 2003. Often called the 'the timeless childhood emotion' it starred a stellar casts that includes Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Rekha, Prem Chopra, Mukesh Rishi, Johnny Lever and many others. Rated 7.1/10 on IMDb, the official synopsis states it's storyline, "Rohit, a youth with a mental disability, befriends an alien. When the police learn about the alien, they try to capture it while Rohit tries his best to protect his new friend."
