'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani': 'Kudmayi' Melody Captures Alia Bhatt's Real and Reel Journey

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, the latest romantic comedy film by acclaimed director Karan Johar, has taken the world by storm with its enchanting storyline and mesmerizing performances. Among the many highlights of the movie, the song Kudmayi has emerged as a fan-favorite, leaving audiences swooning with its beauty and emotion.

The much-awaited song, which plays during the end credits roll, serves as a delightful wedding track showcasing the grand wedding sequence between the film's titular characters, Rocky and Rani, portrayed by the talented Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, respectively. Shot against the stunning backdrop of a palace in Rajasthan, the song exudes opulence and grandeur, truly befitting the romantic ambiance.

Kudmayi captures some of the most beautiful moments in the film, including a heartwarming scene where Alia's onscreen father, Tota Roy Chowdhury, lovingly helps her don exquisite jewelry and her wedding veil. Simultaneously, Ranveer's onscreen family is depicted in full celebration mode, joyfully preparing for the much-awaited wedding with all the charm and enthusiasm of a traditional Punjabi family.

Amidst the splendor and revelry, the song delves into the depth of emotions as Rocky is moved to tears while witnessing Rani's graceful walk down the aisle, dressed as a resplendent golden angel descending from the heavens.

Interestingly, Kudmayi carries a unique and touching real-life connection. Karan Johar revealed that Alia Bhatt shot the song merely four days after her own wedding to Ranbir Kapoor. The mehendi on her hand, seen in the song, was indeed the remnant of her own wedding celebrations.

However, capturing such magnificence was not without its challenges. Karan Johar reminisces that the song was filmed in Jaisalmer, where a sudden sandstorm threatened to halt the shooting, causing unexpected delays. But the dedication and passion of the entire team prevailed, resulting in a visually stunning and emotionally evocative masterpiece.

Alia Bhatt shared her personal experience, describing her own wedding as a simpler affair, dressed in a lightweight saree that allowed her to move around freely. Contrasting that with the majestic aura of Kudmayi, she revealed an amusing anecdote where, during the phere (the sacred wedding rounds), she was told, "ladka aagey jaata hai" (the groom leads the way). However, she playfully contested it by asserting, "Main abhi abhi karke aayi hoon, mujhe pata hai" (I just did it; I know how it's done).

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani boasts a stellar cast, including veteran actors Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. Additionally, Saif Ali Khan's son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, contributed as an assistant director on the film, adding a touch of familial talent to the project.

The film, produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios, has garnered immense love and support from audiences worldwide, resulting in a commendable box office collection of Rs 67.12 crore and counting.
