'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' teaser: Randeep Hooda marks his directorial debut; actor lose 26 kgs for film

'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' teaser: On Sunday, in honour of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar's 140th birthday, the teaser for the Randeep Hooda-starring film was released. The film also serves as Randeep's directorial debut.

Later this year, the movie is anticipated to hit theatres. Producer of the biopic Anand Pandit described Randeep's commitment to the role.

Randeep, who portrays the title character and is based on the life of writer, activist, and politician Veer Savarkar, spoke about the source of the movie's inspiration.

With the critically acclaimed and nominated movie Monsoon Wedding, the actor made his acting debut in 2001. At that year's Cannes Film Festival, the movie had its world debut. Along with Naseeruddin Shah, the ensemble cast also featured Lillete Dubey, Shefali Shah, Vasundhara Das, Vijay Raaz, Tillotama Shome, Parvin Dabas, and Rajat Kapoor.

The Salman Khan-starring movie Radhe was Randeep's last project. With the Netflix drama CAT, he made his OTT debut in 2022. He most recently appeared in the Jio Cinema series Inspector Avinash as supercop Avinash Mishra. Based on the real-life exploits of Uttar Pradesh police officer Avinash Mishra, who took on the guns mafia, the series takes place in the late 1990s.
