Why 2024 is the Year of Missed Opportunities in Bollywood!
As the curtain rose on 2024, the anticipation within Bollywood was palpable. The echoes of the previous year's sensation, "Pathan," still reverberated, leaving filmmakers and audiences alike eager for another blockbuster to captivate their hearts and minds. However, as the months passed, it became evident that the fervor of 2023 had yet to find its match.

The arrival of "Fighter" and "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" sparked initial excitement, with hopes soaring high for potential box office triumphs. Yet, despite promising beginnings, these films soon found themselves grappling for greater earnings, leaving both filmmakers and audiences craving for more.
In the past fortnight alone, four notable releasesโ "Maidaan," "LSD 2," "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," and "Do Aur Do Do Pyaar"โ graced the silver screen. However, their collective efforts failed to yield the desired results, with not a single film managing to amass a crore in a single day.
"Maidaan," in particular, suffered from a disappointing start. In a year marred by a string of underwhelming releases, the film industry had hoped for a resurgence after the setbacks of 2022 and a somewhat promising 2023. Nevertheless, 2024 appeared to offer no respite, with no film yet achieving blockbuster status. Despite being Eid releases, both Ajay Devgan's "Maidaan" and the trio starrer "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" failed to live up to the lofty expectations set for them.

"Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," after a strong initial showing, stumbled significantly on Monday, struggling to maintain its momentum ever since. With reported earnings of 58.09 crores over 15 days, the film finds itself in a precarious position. Meanwhile, "Maidaan," the biopic chronicling the life of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, has similarly failed to capture the audience's imagination, accruing a meager 37.8 crores in 14 days.
Vidya Balan's "Do Aur Do Pyaar," despite being eagerly awaited, failed to resonate with viewers, resulting in a dismal collection of 3.3 crores in its inaugural week. Similarly, "LSD 2," despite its efforts to entice audiences with its trailer, failed to garner significant interest, failing to even breach the one crore mark in a week.
Amidst this bleak landscape, a glimmer of hope emerges in the form of "Ruslaan," the upcoming release starring Ayush Sharma, Salman Khan's brother-in-law. Despite potential challenges stemming from the reduced screen availability due to the lackluster performance of its predecessors, "Ruslaan" carries the industry's hopes on its shoulders. With Ayush Sharma's previous ventures, "Loveyatri" and "Antim: The Final Truth," failing to make a significant impact, the industry watches with bated breath, hoping for a turnaround with "Ruslaan."
