Upon its release yesterday, on 1st May 2024, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has oozed and whacked the Indian period drama fanatics, especially the ones who long for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's breathtaking grandeur finesse. The whopping drama series has roped off some of the most ethereal characters portrayed by the Indian actresses, and been able to impress audiences like absolutely none. The huge ensemble of female star casts included actresses from the starry front of Indian cinema like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjida Sheikh, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal.

People troll Sharmin Segal for her role in Heeramandi

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, almost everything about the series has been loved by global audiences but there is a certain section of people, who have raised doubts and concerns about Sharmin Segal's role of Alamzeb in the series which has been termed as 'underperformed'. As per the unpopular opinion of the masses, she was holding the same expression throughout the 8 episode drama Espionage. Shruti Sharma's views on Sharmin Segal's online trolls

Recently, during an interview, Heeramandi's another crucial actor, Shruti Sharma who has played the role of Saima was seen speaking about her role and finally opened herself up against Sharmin Segal's trollers unabashedly. During the interview, she was asked about her feelings on Sharmin being able to bag the role of Alamzeb only because of her blood relation with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and how Shruti personally thinks about Segal's constant harassment on social media. She said, "Honestly, I wasn't aware that people were trolling her until now. I don't know what audiences have liked or not liked about Sharmin, but I've seen her trying her best like everyone else on the sets. It doesn't matter who's being trolled, but trolling is a bad thing to do." Continuing with her feelings on the whole scenario, she added, "Criticism is one thing; healthy criticism is always welcome, but trolling is unacceptable. It is a very negative way of approaching anyone. It is a kind of mental harassment. If it is happening, I am very concerned for her right now."

During the same interview, she was also asked about her feelings on receiving more love than Alamzeb's character, she said, "I am really happy with Saima. If Sanjay sir has decided something, he is wise enough to choose his actors. I'm sure it is quite well thought out. You can't question his vision. He has given history to Indian Cinema. It is Sanjay Sir that we're talking about."
