International Yoga Day 2022: Nation celebrates Yoga diwas; PM Modi performs Yoga in Mysuru

International Yoga Day 2022: The whole nation is celebrating International Yoga Day by performing yoga. Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Yoga in Mysuru where more than 15,000 people participated in the Yoga celebrations.

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal, officials of the Ministry of Ayush and the Government of Karnataka, and other dignitaries were also present during the event.

The theme for International Yoga Day 2022 is "Yoga for humanity" and it has been selected after much consultation as it appropriately portrays, how during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, yoga served humanity.

The aim is to bring people together through compassion, and kindness, foster a sense of unity and build resilience among people the world over.

Keeping in mind the theme of the 75 years of India's independence, the Ministry for Ayush has also identified 75 locations for Union Ministers to participate in the Yoga Day celebration.

This year, International Day of Yoga will see many firsts, including the 'Guardian ring', a Yoga demonstration by Union cabinet ministers at 75 iconic locations in India, and a special digital yoga and static exhibition in Mysuru Dussera Grounds, Mysuru.

"The experience of collective yoga at the historical sites of India is like tying together India's past, India's diversity, and India's expansion", PM Narendra Modi elaborated.
