Priyanka Chopra has not lost her roots, despite marrying Nick Jonas. She has triumphed over the country's traditions. Recently, Priyanka has shared a video on her social media account in which she is seen discussing how she felt when she first wore mangalsutra after getting married.
On her Instagram, Priyanka has posted a video. She is seen in this video discussing mangalsutra with a woman in a Bulgarian jewelry store. The woman goes on to say that Bulgarian culture is extremely similar to Indian culture.

Priyanka said, "I remember when I wore mine for the first time… because we have grown with the idea of what it means. It was just a very special moment for me. At the same time, as a modern woman, I also understand the repercussions of what it means. Do I like the idea of wearing mangalsutra or is it too patriarchal? But at the same time, I am that generation that's sort of in the middle. Maintain tradition but know who you are and what you stand for. And we'll see the next generation of girls might do differently" while talking about her experience when she wore Mangalsutra for the first time.

Soon after this, numerous fans were speculating about Priyanka Chopra planning separation with Nick. However, soon the actress cleared it and stated that she just wanted her username to be similar to that of her Twitter that why she decided to remove 'Jonas' from her name.
