What was Daler Mehndi's 2003 human trafficking case?

Daler was found guilty on March 16, 2018, but was released on bond. The singer, his deceased brother Shamsher Mehendi, and two other people were detained by the Patiala Police in 2003 as a result of a complaint made by Bakshish Singh, a resident of Balbera village.

After the initial complaint, the Mehndi brothers became the subject of 35 further complaints for allegedly promising to take them abroad "illegally" in exchange for cash. In addition, Bakshish asserted that Mehndi allegedly spent Rs 12 lakh to transport him to Canada.

The FIR filed in 2003 at Sardar Police Station states that the Mehndi brothers kidnapped two different groups of tourist in 1998 and 1999, during which 10 people were taken to the USA as group members and "dropped off."

Daler is accused of using his influence to unlawfully transport significant sums of money to foreign nations, primarily Canada and the USA, by extorting them from his victims. Amounts of documentation from Mehndi's office in New Delhi's Connaught Place were allegedly found by Punjab police after an investigation.
