CISF apologizes to actress Sudha Chandran after being stopped at airport for prosthetic limb

Sudhaa Chandran, renowned actress and Bharatanatyam dancer, has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue a special card to senior citizens like her so that they are not "grilled" by airport authorities.

Sudhaa Chandran lost her leg in an accident, but she was able to return to dancing and acting with the help of a prosthetic foot.

In an Instagram video, she asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue a special card for senior citizens. The actress claims that by doing so, senior citizens such as her can avoid being "grilled" by airport authorities. Sudha, who has an artificial limb, described her ordeal of going through security "grills" each time she travelled.

In response to Sudhaa's complaint, the CISF issued a tweet that read as,

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience caused to Ms. Sudhaa Chandran. As per protocol, prosthetics are to be removed for security checks only under exceptional circumstances.

The tweet further read as, "We will examine why the lady personnel concerned requested Ms. Sudhaa Chandran to remove the prosthetics. We assure Ms.Sudhaa Chandran that all our personnel will be sensitised again on the protocols so that no inconvenience is caused to travelling passengers."

Sudhaa Chandran's right leg was amputated due to gangrene after she was involved in a car accident on her way back from Madras in 1981. Despite all the odds, the actress left no stone unturned and went on to have a successful career in the entertainment industry kudos to her acting and dancing abilities.
