Several fans of Sidhu Moose Wala were very hurt due to this as it was the first song of the late singer to have been released posthumously.
Why is Sidhu Moose Wala's 'SYL' song banned in India?
As per the report, the YouTube spokesperson stated that the social media platform has clear policies for removal requests from governments across the world.
YouTube reviews the government removal requests when notified through the correct legal processes and "also review content for violations of our Community Guidelines."
The spokesperson further stated that it restricts or removes the content, in keeping with local laws and its Terms of Service after reviewing it thoroughly. "All of these requests are tracked and included in our Transparency Report,” he added.
It may be recalled that Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by some assailants in the Jawaharke village of Punjab's Mansa district on May 29.
The incident took place after Sidhu Moose Wala was travelling in a car with two of his friends. The late singer had suffered as many as 24 bullet injuries out of which one of them was recovered from his skull.
