Imtiaz Ali is one of the finest creators in the Bollywood movie industry. Imtiaz is an Indian movie director, producer, actor, and writer who works in Indian cinema. As a director, he has given some of the greatest Bollywood hits that feel like a legacy more than movies. But one thing that often time strikes the viewers is the amount of complexities he imbibes into a character, most commonly his male actors as compared to his heroines. Take the examples of his films like Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar, Tamasha, and Amar Singh Chamkila, that has portrayed flawed male personalities but do you ever wonder why?

Why Imtiaz Ali's Heroes are more complex than his heroines? 

In fact, eventually, people started complaining about Imtiaz's such complex portrayal of his male actors and not playing a hint with his heroines. Talking about the same, the filmmaker finally broke the silence as he quipped his reasons for the same. 

During a recent interview with a renowned media forum, the Amar Singh Chamkila maker was asked about the complexities of his male actors as to why they are so tough to understand while his heroines seem to be more easygoing and resilient. While answering the question, Imtiaz has reflected the most crooked male characters in his film which included Aditya(Jab We Met), Jordan(Rockstar), Ved(Tamasha), and recently Chamkila, and assured that these all characterisations have been inspired by real-life events. he even accepted that it is not just about men that are with issues and women come to solve them, in fact, his words followed by saying, "Though I do credit greater intelligence and resilience to women. Perhaps this is my aspiration, to see women doing more in society which can be manifested in my films."

Imtiaz Ali's recent work 

The Tamsha director has recently served with a Netflix biopic drama, Amar Singh Chamkila that premiered on Netflix on April 12, 2024. As the name suggests, the film revolves around the life of the legendary singer Chamkila and how he rose to become a global sensation before being gunned down at the age of 27 in 1988. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film also stars Apinderdeep Singh, Rahul Mittra, Nisha Bano, Anjum Batra, Vipin Katyal, and Udaybir Sandhumore in some significant roles.
