Piku completes 9 years: Deepika Padukone Fondly Reminisces 'Piku' Days, Pays Tribute to Irrfan Khan: 'We Miss You'
Released back in 2015, Bollywood drama Piku is one of the most sought-after Hindi film of the tinsel town. A simple yet very captivating story like Piku, the film has surely claimed a different fanbase for it's stand-alone prowess in Indian cinema. Led by Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and late actor Irrfan Khan, the movie became a huge hit among the critics and in the theatres earning about Rs. 141 crores at the global box office and being rated 7.6/10 on IMDb.
Today on 8th May, 2024, the 2015 drama finally clocks 9 years of it's release, and on the starry affair of it's 9th anniversary, it's leading actress Deepika Padukone has taken over her Gram to relive the days from her Piku sets. Sharing an unseen glimpse, of BTS moment on her official Instagram handle, Deepika Padukone wrote "He loves telling everyone how much I eat! @amitabhbachchan" and further paid homage to the now heavenly actor Irrfan Khan as she continued and wrote, "@irrfan Oh how much we miss you," with three red heart emojis.
Meanwhile, as soon as the pictures went online, Piku fanbase took over her comments section to pour out their hearty feeling on how they are so fond of the creation and termed it as one of the most comforting Bollywood movies of all time.
Meanwhile, speaking about the shared pictures, it featured the three of the leads, Deepika, Mr. Bachchan, and Irrfan Khan who were seen taking a seat back, resting during their shoot at Kolkata's iconic set. All three of them, in their character wears, could be seen engulfed in deep-fun chats while snacking something, being served on the plate.
'Piku' is a 2015 Indian comedy-drama directed by Shoojit Sircar starring 'Piku' as Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan as well as Irrfan Khan in supporting lead roles. The storyline takes you through the beautiful bond of a father and a daughter and sparks some very realistic Indian family dynamics that became undeniable by the audiences. Meanwhile, it was made within a minimal budget of Rs. 42 crore and earned more than Rs. 141 crore in the Box Office worldwide. On the receiver front, 'Piku' earned 8 nominations including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress (won by Deepika Padukone)and numerous other accolades earned by the cast and crew.
