Remakes of South Indian movies in Bollywood that failed to win audience's love

Bollywood's fine art of recreating South Indian movies has given some of the blockbuster recreations to the Indian cinema. Movies like 'Bhool Bhulaya' of 2007 is recreated from 1993 Malayalam movie, 'Manichitrathazhu' which goes equal to 'Singham' of 2011 which was a remake of 2010 Tamil movie 'Singam'. But the same thing has not brought the equal results for all the movies. Nonetheless, the box-office successful recreations has always served as an example for more future ensembles. But today we are listing some of the South remakes that failed extremely to win audiences love and support, hence barely getting a worthy box-office collection.

Selfiee: The recently made 2023 movie, 'Selfiee' has initially created a huge anticipation among the audience but couldn't hold it's urged anticipation in the Box office. Starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, directed under Raj Mehta, Selfiee's box office collection was just Rs. 23. 63 crore.

Vikram Vedha: The remake of 2017 Telegu movie under the same name was another box-office failure of 2022. The action-thriller led by Saif Ali Khan and Hrithick Roshan was backed by Pushkar-Gayathri with a big budget of Rs. 175 crore. While in contrary 'Vikram Vedha' garnered only Rs. 125 crore in the collection.

Jersey: The 2022 sports-drama 'Jersey' was a Shahid Kapoor starrer movie that was remade from a Telegu movie with a budget of Rs. 70 crore, the movie only earned Rs. 27.9 crores worldwide. Despite with a poor collection at the box-office, 'Jersey' has recieved positive response from the critics and placed a good scale rating of 7.3 on IMDb. 

Shehzada: One of the most hyped up creation of 2023 was undoubtedly 'Shehzada' played by Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon. The movie was a Telegu recreation 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' which starred South's beloved Allu Arjun. Despite with immense promotion by the movie leads, 'Shehzada' has collected a gross of Rs. 47.20 crores worldwide.

Bachchhan pandey: The 2022 movie, directed under Farhad Samji, played by Askshay Kumar was another South remake, Tamil movie 'Jigarthanda' of 2014. 'Bachchhan Pandey' was made with a big budget of Rs. 165 crores, indifferent to which the movie only could collect Rs. 73.17 crores at the box-office.
