From 'King of Romance' to 'King of Action Thrillers': Shah Rukh Khan's Epic Cinematic Journey

Shah Rukh Khan is often recognized as the biggest Bollywood star of the Indian cinema who is responsible for changing the course of cinematic multiverse of the Indian mainland. The charming actor has given multiple Hindi blockbusters to his global fandom excelling his career with each project he touches. From classic rom coms to out poring family dramas, he left no chunks in presenting cinematic masterpieces into the Indian cinema and crazy die-hard fanatics.

The new records

As SRK has bought the world yet another kicking blockbuster 'Jawan' in the cinema's on September 7, 2023, the world is amazed yet again. The action packed thriller has broken all records in the history of Indian cinema and has able to collect a whopping amount of Rs. 65 crore as it's opening day collection and became the first ever Hindi film to gross more than Rs. 60 crore on it's opening day. Reportedly 'Jawan' even surpassed SRK's own record made by 'Pathaan' which has apparently garnered Rs. 56 crore on it's first day. 

But what we seen in SRK today, is the change in course of his choices while doing movies. From serving classic romantic dramas to action packed movies, he has truly turned from 'King of Romance' to 'King of Action Thrillers'. But the journey is very unspoken and mysterious of why he has chosen such a drastic change of choices in his 'known-to-be' romantic career. 

His urge for action movies

Let's travel back in time and see how SRK has revealed himself once about the choices in cinema. During an old interaction with a media limelight, SRK confessed while saying, "I’ve never done an action film, I’ve done really sweet love stories, I’ve done some social dramas, I’ve done some bad guys, but nobody was taking me for action. I’m 57 years old, and I thought for the next years I have to do action films, I want to do Mission Impossible-ish kind of films. I want to do over-the-top kind of action films". His demeanor of a romantic star has never paved him way to action movies until 2023 when he made history with 'Pathaan' released in January. 

Now with the newly set records by 'Jawan' he has truly outshined and proven his caliber and the reason for knowing as the 'Badshah' of the industry. 

SRK and his impeccable contribution

Talking about his filmy career, the star amid lots of hurdles and zero godfather within the industry made his debut into Bollywood in 1992, through the movie 'Deewana' and has given back to back Bollywood evergreen movies such as Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Baazigar, Darr, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Anjaam, Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kuch Kuch Hota Hain, Devdas and many others in his career span.
