FTII Welcomes R Madhavan as its New President; Industry Cheers the Appointment
In a significant development, accomplished actor-filmmaker R Madhavan has been nominated as the President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. This announcement comes shortly after Madhavan's directorial debut, "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect," secured the National Award for Best Film. He steps into the shoes of renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, marking a new chapter for the prestigious institution.
Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, took to social media to convey the appointment. Former FTII President Shekhar Kapur comes from a distinguished family that includes, among others, actors Roshan Taneja, RK Laxman, and Mrinal Sen in addition to renowned directors like Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, and Mrinal Sen is cartoonist. In order to further raise the standards of the institute, Madhavan is prepared to carry on this tradition and add his skills.
