Serious Men

Directed by Sudhir Mishra and based on the book of the same name by author Manu Joseph. In this adaptation, Siddiqui portrays Ayyan Mani, a Dalit assistant working under a Brahmin astronomer. Living in a slum with his wife and 10-year-old son, Ayyan becomes frustrated with his economic and social status. To change his circumstances, he fabricates a story about his son's exceptional intelligence, leading to unforeseen and dangerous consequences. Mishra's film sheds light on the stark socioeconomic disparities within society and explores the lengths individuals may go to break free from their circumstances.
