Parkash Singh Badal death: From Mika Singh to Afsana Khan celeb pay tribute to former CM of Punjab

In order to pay their final respects to Parkash Singh Badal, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 95, people have been lining up outside the SAD office in this city since early on Wednesday. The Punjab government also proclaimed a holiday on Thursday in his honour. In the meantime, several Punjabi celebs paid their respects to the former CM of Punjab. From Afsana Khan to Mika Singh, artists of Punjab tribute Parkash Singh Badal.

In order to pay his respects to Parkash Singh Badal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Chandigarh at midday, according to reports.

The state of Punjab's Parkash Singh Badal had the youngest chief minister ever serve in that position. He was 43.

Throughout a career spanning more than seven decades, he only lost two elections: the first in 1967 and the most recent in the Punjab assembly election in 2022. Since he had fronted Lambi for many years, losing it was especially painful for him.

During Operation Bluestar in June 1984, when the Army entered the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar to clear out extremists, he actively courted capture.

Due to farmers' protests in 2020 over new agricultural policies from the Center, his party severed ties with the BJP. Parkash Singh Badal returned his Padma Vibhushan award, the second-highest civilian honour in the nation, which he had earned from the government in 2015 in protest of how the Central government had treated farmers who were on the streets in demonstration.

A "colossal figure of Indian politics and a wonderful statesman," according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, led the honours to the Punjabi leader.
