Richa Chadha's favorite looks from Cannes

Recently during an interview with a renowned media forum, the Masaan actress was asked about her heart-stealing fashion moments from the Cannes history. The film festival that goes beyond just film and productions also heads off for being a melting pot of fashion. From the Indian frontline, whereas actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, and Aditi Rao Hydari are leading names, the list given by Richa Chadha included none of their names. Surprising? Not, at all as Richa Chadha has rather picked up the iconic looks from the Cannes Red carpet.

Richa Chadha Picks out Nandita Das and Mallika Sherawat

While keeping the names of the actresses, Richa traveled back in time and hailed Nandita Das as well as Mallika Sherawat for serving their best looks at the prestigious film festival. She heaped praises over the Zwigato director’s simplicity in an ethereal sari and praised Mallika Sherawat for delivering something that she was aware off. While answering her views, Richa said, "I think Nandita Das, who got invited to be on the jury for Cannes several years ago, held her own in a simple saree,” further adding, “There was a lot of critique and ridicule for Mallika Sherawat at that time but if you look back those pictures from 15 years ago, she looked great! She knew what she was projecting. She knew how to make use of her full body and fitness. She created her own persona."

Richa Chadha talks about the classist nature of Bollywood

Proceeding further with her talks, the Heeramandi actress also referred about the 'classist' nature of the fashion industry. Sharing her own experiences, she remarked on how fast this industry can classify someone and label them as per their roles. In fact, she recalled how she hadn't had access to a stylist until Masaan happened. "If you emerge from a film like Oye Lucky Lucky Oye or Gangs Of Wasseypur, they assume you to be the character. Only when they have a real conversation with you do they understand your pedigree. Pedigree doesn’t only have to come from Bandra or from a film family. I think I've got tremendous cultural capital," she continued.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy Richa Chadha's moving performance of Lajjo on Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar only on Netflix.
