Despite contract cancellation, Amitabh Bachchan issues a legal letter to the pan masala brand as commercials continue to air

Despite the actor's contract being terminated, Amitabh Bachchan has issued a legal warning to a pan masala business that has continued to run advertising depicting him.

Amitabh Bachchan has given a legal warning to a pan masala production company that has continued to air TV commercials featuring him despite the termination of a contract. He left the Kamla Pasand campaign in October, citing a national anti-tobacco organization's request that he refrain from supporting a pan masala brand in order to help prevent young people from being addicted to cigarettes. Bachchan was also chastised on social media for the commercial.

"A legal letter has been filed to Kamala Pasand by Mr Bachchan's office to stop broadcasting the TV commercials with Mr Bachchan immediately," a source close to the actor confirmed. "It was discovered that, notwithstanding the termination of the Endorsement agreement,'Kamala Pasand'has continued to air television commercials."

Bachchan announced his retirement from the ad campaign on his 79th birthday, stating he had no knowledge it was considered as surrogate advertising. Surrogate advertising is defined as a type of advertisement that uses the guise of another product to promote prohibited products such as cigarettes, tobacco, and alcohol.

At the time, a statement from the actor's office said,"Mr Bachchan reached out to the company a few days after the commercial aired and quit last week. When the reason for the abrupt change was explored, it was determined that Mr Bachchan was ignorant that the brand fell within the category of surrogate advertising when he became associated with it. Mr Bachchan has terminated his contract with the Brand, notified them of his choice, and returned the money received in exchange for the promotion."

A few days before the announcement, the actor responded to a person on social media who questioned his decision. At the time, he explained his position by arguing that it was a component of the entertainment business, which employs a large number of people.
