Recently, Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor were in Chandigarh to promote their upcoming film ‘Shamshera’ along with the director Karan Malhotra.

During an exclusive interview with the star cast of the film ‘Shamshera’, PTC Punjabi anchor Saira asked the film’s director Karan Malhotra about the rumours that Ranbir was initially supposed to play the character of ‘Bali’ only and that there were no plans of double role.

To this, Karan Malhotra said, that you got the right information. “Ranbir Kapoor was supposed to play the character of ‘Bali’ only but it was Ranbir’s demand that he wanted to play ‘Shamshera’,” he said.

The Director revealed that upon reaching out to the actor with the script, Ranbir Kapoor was enthralled by the character of ‘Shamshera’. “Ranbir wanted to do the titular role and that’s the reason why we made his double role in the film,” he said.

Likewise, Sanjay Dutt revealed that he feels very comfortable doing negative roles when Karan Malhotra is the director of the film. Prior to ‘Shudh Singh’ in ‘Shamshera’, Sanjay Dutt’s negative role in ‘Agnipath’ as ‘Kancha Bhau’ was heavily praised by the audience.
