The long-gone Indian history recalls Nathuram killed Gandhi for holding him responsible as the main reason for the country’s division. He shot Gandhi dead on 30 January 1948. India is holding today as his 75th death anniversary. In the Rajkumar Santoshi-directed movie, the man is miraculously saved and pardons the assassinator. Godse has been portrayed as a writing and speaking affluent who holds the power of indecent public manipulation that led to almost a ruckus in Indian politics. Later on, Gandhi is arrested and put in jail, where both Gandhi and Godse are shown in numerous debates and repelling arguments. Meanwhile what would their differing ideologies results, in the end, is something this patriotic movie is made to deliver.

The movie has received mixed reactions from movie critics and viewers so far. Although people have appreciated Santoshi for giving an alternate universe vibe through Gandhi’s survival. Indians are accepting the fact of varying perceptions and are overwhelmed by the director’s choice for letting people know about such big names more vividly. The small budget 20 crore movie is yet strangling along with its strong blockbuster competitors.
